In the polls, Wasonga garnered 302 votes, representing 64 per cent of the total votes cast, defeating Francis Odundo, who received 169 votes, equivalent to 36 per cent.
Constantine Wasonga has retained his position as National Secretary General of the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) after winning a third consecutive term in the union’s elections.
In the polls held at Nakuru Athletics Club on Tuesday, June 23, Wasonga garnered 302 votes, representing 64 per cent of the total votes cast, defeating Francis Odundo, who received 169 votes, equivalent to 36 per cent.
Other officials who retained their positions include Grace Nyongesa, who was re-elected National Chairperson after garnering 284 votes, representing 60 per cent of the total votes cast, and Cyprian Ombati, who secured re-election as Vice-Chairperson with 357 votes, equivalent to 76 per cent of the votes cast.

Jacob Musembi, the former Deputy National Secretary General, was elected as the National Organising Secretary after winning 157 votes, representing about 33 per cent of the total vote. Jennifer Kumba and Weldon Keter retained their positions as National Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer after obtaining 284 and 231 votes respectively.
Jane Michael also retained her position as National Trustee after amassing 190 votes. She will serve alongside new entries Florence Guantai and Josiah Odalo, who were elected as National Trustees with 218 and 206 votes respectively.
Grace Kibue was elected as the new Deputy National Secretary General after collecting 208 votes, representing 44 per cent, replacing Jacob Musembi.
