A family in Msambweni Sub-county, Kwale County, is seeking justice following the death of 16-year-old Grace Mungeli Nzioki, a Kinondo Secondary School student who was found dead on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the Mwamaya area after going missing for several days.
Grace left her home in Fihoni village at around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, and did not return.

Her mother, Dorcas Mutisya, said the family searched widely without success and reported the matter. Preliminary postmortem findings indicated multiple injuries, and the family was informed that the cause of death was consistent with homicide, not an animal attack.

Mutisya questioned the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death, noting that the clothing found near Grace’s body did not match what she wore when she left home. She urged investigators to establish how the garments were linked to the case and to pursue all leads.
During the days Grace was missing, some residents reported seeing her with young men operating boda bodas in the area. The family is asking police to question anyone who may have interacted with her before her death.
The mother also raised concerns about insecurity in the locality, claiming previous murder cases have remained unresolved.
Msambweni village chairman, Abdallah Mwachikoi, confirmed the case was reported at Msambweni Police Station and said investigations are ongoing. He added that several individuals have been summoned to record statements to help detectives piece together events leading to Grace’s death, urging the public to remain calm and avoid speculation until inquiries are complete.
