Teachers in job grades B5, C1, C2, and C3 will take home the lion’s share in the salary negotiation talks between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the teachers’ unions which is expected to be finalized on Monday.

According to reliable sources, the final agreement would be what President William Ruto and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) awarded, which is a 7-10 percent salary increase to civil servants with teachers taking the lion’s share.

Job groups B5, C1, C2, and C3 will be awarded the 10 percent increment and will be taking half of it this year and the rest to be paid in the 2024/2025 Financial Year, which translates to a net payment of Ksh.2,400 after the July arrears paid.

The initial talks at Kenya School of Government failed to reach a conclusion after it emerged that TSC tabled a salary increase of between 2.4 percent on the minimum for teachers currently earning a higher basic salary and 9.5 percent on the maximum for teachers currently earning the lower basic salary.
