Dr. Ida Odinga has urged parents to embrace and support education of their children by ensuring that they attend and clear their schooling before they can engage in adult family matters.
She said education would help them to secure professions of their choice and become better people in the society.
The former prime ministers’ wife while speaking at Madara school and talent centre during a fundraiser to facilitate completion of construction of the facility in Nyatike constituency of migori County, noted that the future of young girls hang on the balance if the society cannot join efforts to ensure they help in the fight against early marriages and pregnancies among teenagers.
“Let us support young children to be able to complete their education as per what is morally right and within the constitution.
The future will be bright only through academic development and achievements.” Said Ida.
Mama Ida urged the youths not to engage in early sexual behavior while still in school in order to achieve their professional ambitions and achieve their dreams in life.
“Stop diverting the attention of young learners from education towards immoral/ illicit behavior instead, encourage them to embrace education and understand that it’s important for better future in the society.” She noted.
She urged youths to desist from alcohol and drug abuse and concentrate on farming and other constructive activities saying youths should remain proactive to the country’s’ economy.
“Stop weakening your system through alcohol and illicit drugs yet at this age you should be contributing towards economic development by engaging in skillful and development activities” she warned.
