Ida Odinga donates foodstuffs and books on Mashujaa day

Wife to former Prime Minister and presidential candidate, Ida Odinga yesterday celebrated Mashujaa day by giving back to the society.

Ida donated learning materials to schools within Bondo and Rarieda sub counties.

Through her foundation – Dr. Ida Odinga Foundation – she donated text books among other learning materials to the local schools within Siaya County.

The Foundation, whose main objective is to curb the number of school dropouts in the County, has been working with the Ministry of Education to offer peer counseling to teenage learners and donate sanitary pads among other basic essentials and personal effects to adolescent girls.

She also donated foodstuffs to the schools to ensure that more learners remain in school in the wake of the tough economic times in the country.

Mrs. Odinga, who has been traversing the country while promoting education, sensitizing and encouraging learners to shun from drug and alcohol abuse, early marriages and illicit sexual affairs, handed over the donations through the respective school heads and teachers.

The former teacher has remained dedicated to the profession through various activities she has been participating in so as to enhance the sector.

She also spearheaded the construction of an ultra-modern Library in her former school, Ogande Girls in Homa bay sub county.
