All education stakeholders in Kilifi County have been urged to actively participate in addressing the prevailing early pregnancies and early marriage menace among school girls in the region.

Speaking to Education News from Kaloleni Sub-County recently, Health Community Volunteer, Ms. Zubeda Kilonzo lamented that many school girls in the county have dropped out of school due to early pregnancies and early marriages respectively.

“The prevailing situation has therefore contributed to low education levels in the region”, she explained.

The Sub-County Health Community Volunteer, however, warned men in the region against having sexual affairs with school girls.

She suggested that any man found to have impregnated a schoolgirl be given a deterrent sentence so as to discourage others who would have the same intentions.

At the same time, Ms. Zubeda asked education stakeholders and county residents to cooperate to the maximum in order to give the girl child’s education great attention.

She also advised parents in the county to closely monitor the movements of their school-going daughters so as to know exactly what they are doing.
