Kisii County Education Board Chairman Prof. Henry Onderi is one of the recipients of the iChange Nations Award. An award he received after being feted for the immense contribution in the progress of education in the county.
“He was awarded because he has made our county to be the most visible and result oriented in the country,” said Governor. James Ongwae.
The iChange Nations Award team that was led by Dr. Reuben West from the USA congratulated all of the 34 people who received the coveted award in the county that that carried the message of iChange Nation’s president Dr. Cyde River.
“I want to thank you for utilizing your voice wisely to speak to others in a way that creates impact and positive change within the world. The avenue for change starts as potential and becomes chiseled into the hearts and minds of others through words spoken by brave individuals committed to the betterment of the world,” said Dr. Reuben West.
Prof. Onderi who is a lecturer at Jaramogi Oginga Odinnga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) started as a high school principal at his rural home from where he continued to climb the academic ladder.
Since his appointment to the post of Kisii County Education Board Chairman, the don has been vocal in the sensitization of the populace to follow the rules and regulations according to the 2013 Education Act.
During the colorful celebrations that were attended by JOOUST Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Bosire and Kisii University Academic Registrar Dr. Joash Kerongo among others, many scholars poured a lot of praise to Prof. Onderi.
“Your integrity and character are on display by your willingness to advocate for others when it goes against the status quo.” said Dr. Rivers.
In appreciation to the coveted honor, Professor Onderi who was accompanied by his family members led by his wife gave a brief history on his passion in education.
“I became a professor three years ago. The achievement coincided with the COVID- 19 scourge so I had to postpone the celebration not knowing that God was accumulating the blessings until today,” he testified.
He promised to champion for the course of education in the world and asked all stakeholders to cooperate with him.
