The unsettling matter of abduction and murder of a security guard at St. Joseph’s Girls High School in Kakamega has left the community grappling with numerous unanswered questions.

On the evening of October 9, Frank Nelson Madara, a 60-year old security guard who had recently joined the school’s security team, was subjected to a horrifying ordeal.

He was lured and subsequently abducted by unknown assailants while on duty at the school gate.

Two days later, his lifeless body was discovered dumped at Obunga in Kisumu County, bearing severe head injuries.

The perpetrators of this heinous crime cunningly disguised themselves as police officers, using this ruse to deceive Madara into unlocking the gate.

Once the gate was ajar, they forcefully seized him, coercing him into a white saloon car, and promptly made their escape, leaving behind a perplexed colleague who had been on duty with him.

The school principal  Lucas Shikhu alerted the authorities, but their initial search efforts yielded nothing.

It was only on the following day that they received the grim news of a body matching Madara’s description being found at Obunga estate.

The body was subsequently transported to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital morgue, where it was positively identified as Madara.

The motive behind this shocking incident remains shrouded in mystery as the perpetrators neither breached the school premises nor made any ransom demands.

“We don’t know the motive behind the incident. He has been with us for barely two months and is now dead. This is sad,” the Principal said.

The Kakamega County Police Commander Joseph Kigen assured the public that the incident was under investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and refuted any claims of involvement of his officers.

However, there seems to be a contradiction in the times of reporting, the principal saying he reported the matter in the morning while other managers allege the police were informed immediately.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to arrests to step forward and assist the police in unraveling the mysterious murder.
