CS KINDIKI ON TSC TEACHERS

Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki has directed Chiefs countrywide to conduct a mop-up drive to ensure all students yet to join high school do so in line with the government’s 100 per cent transition policy.

The Ministry of Education estimates that thousands of learners countrywide are yet to join high school and Junior Secondary School (JSS).

Speaking at a public baraza at Gotani Trading Centre in Kilifi County, Kindiki said that the government is determined to ensure that all the learners receive education and it is the responsibility of administrators starting from Assistant Chiefs to ensure that it is achieved.

In the county, 31 per cent of students are yet to join Form One while 7 per cent of learners are yet to enrol to JSS.

Kilifi has persistently recorded low students rates with major reasons being lack of school fees, early marriages, retrogressive cultural practises, drug abuse and informal manual labour.
