Chepkutung Secondary School in Kericho County on Monday held a candle-lighting ceremony in memory of student Elias Kiprotich, who died in a road accident at Kapsuser in Kericho County.
The school community gathered to honour Kiprotich’s memory, with students and teachers lighting candles during the emotional ceremony.
The solemn event provided an opportunity for the school fraternity to mourn the loss of their colleague and reflect on his life and the impact of his death on classmates, teachers and the wider school community.
The student’s sudden death has left the school community in grief, with classmates and teachers coming to terms with the loss.
Through the candle-lighting ceremony, the school joined Kiprotich’s family in mourning and offered messages of comfort and solidarity to his loved ones during the difficult period.

The school community expressed its condolences to the family as preparations continue for the student’s burial.
