Celebrations as Dr Aggrey retain title, new champions crowned

Dr. Aggrey High School situated in Wundanyi Sub-county retained the boys’ basketball title as Mwangea triumphed in boys’ handball as 2024 Taita Taveta County Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games ended on Saturday March 9.

Mwangea Boys were crowned new handball champions after fighting to a 29-9 win over Dr. Aggrey High.

The hosts had led 12-4 at the end of the first half. Mwatate Day carried the girls crown after seeing off Njoro Girls from Taveta 27-9 in the finals.

In the basketball finals, rivals Dr. Aggrey and Timbila batteled with the defending champions defeating cahmpions, Dr Agrrey defeating their opponents 53-29 to retain their county crown. Mwasere Girls reclaimed the girls’ basketball trophy.

Rugby saw new champions rise as Timbila beat Dr. Aggrey in the hotly contested finals played at Mwambiti Secondary grounds. Former champions St Mary’s Lushangonyi lost to Timbila in the semis. The boys’ hockey trophy went to Kenyatta Mwatate.
