Defending basketball champions Dr Aggrey claw into semis at KSSSA Games

Former basketball national champions Dr. Aggrey High School made their intent known on the second day of Taita Taveta Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games after they stormed into the county basketball semis held in Voi Boys on Friday, March 98.

In the group stages, the team saw off Kenyatta Mwatate High with a massive 87-14 before thumping Bishop Njenga of Taveta 146 -2. They easily defeated hosts Voi Boys 90-14.

In the other pool, Timbila High won all their matches beating Mwatate Day 94-5 and Mwambiti of Voi 102-22. The semis will feature Dr. Aggrey against Canon Kituri while Timbila will battle Voi Boys.

In girls’ basketball, Mwakitawa Secondary beat Mahoo Girls 44-2 as Mwasere Girls beat Mwakitawa 36-14 in their last pool matches.

Rugby saw powerhouse and last year’s finalists St Mary’s Lushangonyi run riot as they beat all their opponents to storm into the semi-finals played at Mwambiti grounds. They walloped Mwambonu 39-0 and easily saw off Ngutini 17-0. Timbila was beaten by Dr. Aggrey 3-0 as new Mwatate Sub -county champions Kituma lost to Dr. Aggrey 10-3.

In handball boys Mwangea beat Kenyatta Mwatate 48-20 make finals. They will play Dr. Aggrey who beat St. Mary’s 32-21 in the second semi-final.
