Form one students from Bungoma county have been urged to concentrate more on their studies so as to secure a bright future.
Addressing parents, teachers and residents of Bumula Sub-county at Bumula Girls high school grounds, Governor Hon Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati reteirated that education is the only solid equalizer between the poor and the rich hence learners should remain disciplined at all times when both in school and back at home.
He assured the beneficiaries of the governors scholarship programme that if they scored an A plain at the end of their secondary education, they will secure jobs at Equity bank and thereafter secure both local and international full scholarships into universities to pursue their dream careers.
Wangamati said he had been assured of the same by Equity bank Chief Executive Officer Dr James Mwangi when he recently visited the county.
His sentiments were echoed by Deputy Governor Prof Charles Kibani Ngome and County Executive Committee Member in charge of education Dr Betty Mayeku.
Area legislator Hon Moses Mwambu Mabonga asked for more capitation through Constituency Development Fund from the National Treasury for more students to benefit from bursaries.
