Autopsy reveals internal bleeding killed KMTC student

An autopsy conducted on the body of Eugene Mutuku, a student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), has established that he died from multiple severe injuries and internal bleeding sustained after a fall. Mutuku was allegedly pushed from a moving matatu along Thika Road.

The post-mortem examination on the 19-year-old was conducted on Monday, June 8, at the Kenyatta National Hospital Mortuary.

Eugene, who was pursuing his studies at KMTC Yatta Campus, is alleged to have been pushed out of a Nicco Sacco matatu by the vehicle’s conductor on Friday morning, June 5.

Some people claimed that he was thrown out because he could not pay fare. However, the claims were disputed by his elder brother, who said he had given Eugene transport money before the journey.

The incident left him with injuries to the lip and abdomen, as well as a fractured leg. He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The grieving family has called on authorities to ensure justice is served and those responsible are brought to book.

Police intensify investigations

Police are investigating the incident and are searching for the driver and conductor suspected to have been involved.

According to investigators, the matatu was later abandoned in Nairobi’s Kariokor area after the incident, while the driver and conductor remain at large.

The vehicle has since been towed and is being held at Kasarani Police Station as investigations continue.

Company directors arraigned

As the police manhunt for the driver and conductor intensifies, two directors of Nicco Transport Company have already been arraigned in court over the matter.
