Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut has asked Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to deploy more teachers in his constituency.
Speaking to Education News recently, he said that there was a high shortage of teachers leading to less impact on students thus poor performance. “I want to ask TSC and the Ministry of Education to hire more teachers for our children to get quality and not quantity education. We have a shortage of over 180 teachers,” he said recently in Eldoret town after meeting primary and secondary schools head teachers from his constituency. He, however, congratulated secondary schools principals for their exemplary performance in the 2017 KCSE.
On the transfer of teachers, he asked the affected head teachers to comply since they were employed to serve in any part of the country and not their home counties.
