Nyang’iela Mixed Secondary School has been disqualified from the ongoing Rachuonyo South Sub-County secondary school football competition after officials established that some of the players fielded by the school were not registered in the official competition portal.

The disciplinary decision, announced after a review of player registration records, saw Agoro Mixed Secondary School awarded a 3-0 victory and three points in accordance with competition regulations governing the use of unregistered players.

The ruling effectively ends Nyang’iela’s participation in this year’s tournament, dealing a major blow to the school’s hopes of progressing to the next stage of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games.

Registration rules enforced

Competition officials maintained that all participating teams were required to register players through the designated portal before the start of the championship, warning that failure to comply would attract disciplinary action.

The sanction mirrors decisions that have been enforced in various school and club football competitions where teams have been found guilty of fielding ineligible or unregistered players.

Similar penalties have previously resulted in forfeiture of matches and disqualification from competitions.

Agoro Mixed benefits

Agoro Mixed, which had initially lost the match on the field of play, now benefits from the ruling and advances with an awarded victory.

The decision is expected to have a significant impact on the final standings of the Rachuonyo South Sub-County football championship.

Call for compliance

Sports stakeholders have welcomed the move, saying strict enforcement of registration rules is essential in safeguarding fairness, integrity, and transparency in school competitions.

The development serves as a warning to teams participating in the games to ensure all players meet eligibility requirements and are properly registered before taking part in any fixture.
