- Plans to establish a KMTC campus in Mosop Constituency have reached an advanced stage, MP Abraham Kirwa says.
- The proposed institution has received Sh30 million from NG-CDF, with additional funding expected for its development.
- Residents say the campus will bring medical training opportunities closer while stimulating local economic development.
The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is set to establish a campus in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, in a move expected to expand access to medical training and boost development in the area.
Area Member of Parliament Abraham Kirwa said preparations for the establishment of the institution were at an advanced stage, describing the project as “a move in the right direction.” Kirwa is the current Member of Parliament for Mosop Constituency.
Speaking in Chepreruoy, Kirwa said the campus would benefit local residents by providing opportunities for students to pursue medical courses closer to home while also contributing to the region’s economic development.
“The institution will benefit our people and spur development in this region,” Kirwa said.
Sh30 million allocated
According to the MP, the project has already received an allocation of Sh30 million from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), with additional funding expected to be allocated soon.
Kirwa said he would work to ensure the construction works are fast-tracked, noting that land for the campus had already been availed.
“We will ensure the construction is fast-tracked so that our people can begin benefiting from this institution,” he said.
Kirwa, who defended his track record, also announced plans to establish a fully fledged police station in the area to enhance security and ensure the safety of residents.
Residents welcomed the planned KMTC campus, saying it would ease the burden faced by students who have had to travel to other counties to pursue medical training.

Locals said the establishment of the institution would provide more young people with an opportunity to train in medical professions without travelling far from their homes.
