Bishop Okinda Achuth Mixed Secondary School in Uriri Sub-County, Migori County, is facing possible closure over low student enrolment.
Residents claim that some classes have very few learners, with no students reported in Form Three and Grade 10, raising concern about the future of the institution.
The residents have blamed what they term as poor administration and are calling for an overhaul of the school management to save the school from collapse. According to the residents, issues such as lack of proper school uniforms, poor performance in sports, and demoralisation of hardworking teachers have contributed to parents withdrawing their children and taking them to neighbouring schools.

They say the school, which once had a good number of students, has continued to record a drop in enrolment, and if nothing is done urgently, it may be forced to close down.
The concerned residents have asked the Cabinet Secretary for Education to intervene before the school disappears completely. They are also appealing to the Ministry of Education and the school sponsor to institute changes to restore confidence among parents and learners.

Efforts to reach Migori County Director of Education, Onyiego, for comment did not succeed by the time of going to press.
