Parents and guardians of Grade 9 learners who are dissatisfied with their initial selection of senior school pathways, schools or subject combinations have been given another opportunity to request changes.
The Ministry of Education has extended the selection window, allowing parents to revisit the choices submitted earlier and make adjustments based on their preferred pathways, schools and subject combinations.
Parents seeking changes have been advised to visit their children’s schools and make the request through the Head of Institution (HOI). The teacher in charge will assist in accessing and editing the learner’s profile on the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal, after which the changes will be reviewed, confirmed and submitted as a new request for consideration.

The process is intended to allow learners and their parents to correct or reconsider earlier choices before the placement process is finalised.
Parents have, however, been urged to act as soon as possible, as the Ministry of Education has not indicated how long the extended window will remain open. Those seeking changes are therefore encouraged not to wait until the last minute, since failure to make the necessary adjustments within the provided period could leave the learner with the choices initially submitted.

The development comes as the government continues preparations for the transition of Grade 9 learners to senior school under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system, where learners will pursue different pathways according to their interests, abilities and career aspirations.
