Narok High School has emerged victorious in Dance Class 1018K at this year’s National Music Festival held in Bungoma County, scoring an impressive 91 per cent and earning an opportunity to represent Kenya in Uganda.
The outstanding performance has once again placed the Maa community on the national stage, with the school showcasing the richness of its culture and the exceptional talent of its learners through music and dance.
The school’s lead trainers, Madam Jackline Surum and George Kenyatta Sadera, said the team is set to travel to Uganda from August 18 to 25 following its impressive performance at the national festival.
School builds on previous success
The achievement comes a year after Narok High School made a remarkable mark at the National Music Festival through its exceptional presentation in Class 1018K.
The school’s continued dominance in the category has strengthened its reputation as one of the institutions helping to preserve and promote Maa culture through performing arts.
The latest victory has generated excitement and pride in Narok and across the Maa community, with the school’s performers demonstrating that cultural talent can provide young people with opportunities beyond the classroom.
Through their performances, the learners have continued to promote the traditions, identity and artistic heritage of the Maa community while competing against some of the country’s finest school-based talents.
Uganda offers regional platform
The trip to Uganda will provide another important platform for the team to showcase its skills and cultural heritage at a regional level.
The performers are expected to use the opportunity to represent Narok and Kenya with distinction while promoting the diverse cultural traditions that make the country unique.
The school’s achievement also highlights the important role of school music and cultural programmes in nurturing talent, building confidence among learners and creating opportunities for young people to participate in national and regional platforms.
