Bungoma County has underlined its growing dominance in school sports after six institutions secured places to represent Kenya at the forthcoming Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games.
The schools punched their tickets to the regional championships after stellar performances at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two Games, where Bungoma emerged as one of the country’s top-performing counties.
In rugby sevens, Bokoli Boys High School will spearhead Kenya’s campaign in the boys’ category, while Friends Kimobo Girls High School and Friends Mbakalo Girls High School sealed qualification in the girls’ competition following commanding displays throughout the national championships.
National netball champions Friends Bukokholo Girls High School also booked a place at the East African showpiece after a dominant run that reaffirmed their status among Kenya’s elite school teams.
In hockey, perennial contenders Friends School Kamusinga once again earned the right to fly the Kenyan flag, extending the school’s rich legacy on the regional stage.
Meanwhile, Moi Girls Kamusinga completed Bungoma’s impressive representation after clinching qualification in the girls’ handball category.
Bungoma strengthens sporting reputation
The qualification of six schools across four disciplines marks a major boost for Bungoma County, reinforcing its reputation as a breeding ground for sporting excellence and a consistent producer of national champions.
Attention now shifts to the FEASSSA Games, where the Kenyan representatives will face the region’s finest school teams in pursuit of East African honours.
The strong showing by Bungoma schools is expected to bolster Kenya’s medal prospects as the country seeks to maintain its dominance at the prestigious regional championship.
