The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Moyale Branch has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic road accident at Kargi Junction along the Marsabit–Isiolo Road that claimed several lives, including three teachers.
In a statement, the union described the incident as heartbreaking and extended its condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, friends and the entire education fraternity.
“It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that KNUT Moyale Branch has received the heartbreaking news of the tragic road accident at Kargi Junction along the Marsabit–Isiolo Road, which claimed several lives, including those of three teachers,” the statement read.
The union prayed for the affected families, asking God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give their loved ones strength, comfort and courage as they come to terms with the loss.
Appeal for road safety
KNUT Moyale also urged teachers and other travellers to prioritise road safety during the ongoing school holiday, when many people are travelling to reunite with their families.
The union appealed to motorists and passengers to use safe and reliable means of transport, observe traffic regulations and avoid unnecessary travel risks, noting that every life is precious.
The branch further conveyed its sympathies to all families who lost relatives in the accident and wished those injured a speedy and full recovery.
The fatal crash at Kargi Junction has cast a dark cloud over the education fraternity, with fellow teachers and residents mourning the loss of colleagues whose lives were cut short.

KNUT Moyale concluded by praying that the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace and called on all road users to exercise greater caution to help prevent similar tragedies.
