The County Government of West Pokot has stepped up its investment in education, commissioning a new Administration Block at All Saints Tamugh Senior School in Sook Ward and flagging off a major distribution of furniture and play equipment to Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres.
Governor Simon Kachapin presided over the twin initiatives, describing them as part of a broader agenda to strengthen learning facilities and create child‑friendly environments across the county. He emphasized that every classroom built, every administration block completed, and every ECDE centre equipped represents a long‑term investment in the future of West Pokot’s children.
During the ceremony, the Governor launched the distribution of 400 ECDE chairs alongside assorted recreational equipment, including slides, swings, and trampolines, to centres in Sook and Endough Wards. It is the first time the county has undertaken such a comprehensive rollout of furniture and play resources for ECDE institutions in the two wards.
Kachapin said the initiative would improve the quality of early childhood education by creating safe and stimulating environments that promote holistic child development through both structured play and academic learning. He reaffirmed that education remains a flagship priority for his administration, with sustained investments made to expand access to quality infrastructure.

County records show that Sook Ward has benefited from the construction of 41 ECDE classrooms since 2017, while Endough Ward has received 33 classrooms since 2022. These facilities now support 43 ECDE centres in Sook and 64 in Endough, significantly boosting access to early childhood education.
Officials noted that improved infrastructure, complemented by interventions such as school feeding programmes and enhanced learning resources, has contributed to higher enrolment, better attendance, and stronger transition rates to subsequent levels of education.
Governor Kachapin stressed that every child, regardless of location, deserves access to quality education delivered in safe, well‑equipped, and inspiring spaces. He said the county’s continued investment in education is central to building a productive and competitive generation capable of driving socio‑economic transformation.
The commissioning ceremony brought together senior county leaders, including Deputy Speaker and Endough Ward MCA Victor Siywat, Majority Leader and Sook Ward MCA Martin Komongiro, County Secretary Jonathan Siwanyang, Education CEC Rebecca Kide, Chief Officers David Chepelion and Emmanuel Mtelo, Chief of Staff Tyno Rotino, and other stakeholders.
The latest investment underscores West Pokot’s commitment to strengthening education infrastructure, improving learning outcomes, and ensuring that every child has a strong foundation for lifelong success.
