Rift Valley Region boys’ football champions Tenwek High School will face Kenyan Premier League side Mara Sugar FC in a high-profile friendly match at Silibwet Stadium tomorrow as the Bomet-based school intensifies preparations for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two Games.
The match will kick off at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to provide Tenwek with a stern test before they travel to Thika, Kiambu County, for the national championships scheduled for August 2–6.
The friendly comes at a crucial time for the Bomet County champions, who are preparing for the biggest tournament in the school’s football history.
Tenwek will be making their maiden appearance at the KSSSA national finals after an impressive campaign that saw them emerge as one of the country’s rising school football powers.
Facing Mara Sugar, a side that competes in the Kenyan Premier League, is expected to expose the young players to a higher level of competition and help the technical bench assess the team’s readiness before the national showpiece.
The encounter will also allow the coaching staff to fine-tune tactics, test combinations in different departments, and identify areas requiring improvement before the team meets Kenya’s top school football sides in Thika.
