- TSC has implemented a series of regional directors’ transfers after Central Regional Director Elijah Omwenga reported to the commission’s headquarters.
- Omwenga will serve as Deputy Director in the Staffing Department, ending weeks of uncertainty over the reshuffle.
- The move has paved the way for other regional directors whose transfers had been delayed to report to their new stations.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reversed its decision to retain its Central Regional Director after his recent transfer.
The concerned director, Elijah Omwenga, has now been required to report to the TSC headquarters in accordance with the earlier directive.
Omwenga is expected to serve as Deputy Director in the Staffing Department at the TSC headquarters. He is said to have reported to his new station last week before proceeding on official leave.
It is understood that the commission had earlier been forced to cancel his transfer to the headquarters due to political pressure from high-placed quarters.
Regional directors report to new stations
Following Omwenga’s eventual move to Nairobi, other regional directors whose transfers had been suspended as a result have reported to their designated stations.
Education News has learnt that Victoria Muoka has reported to Nyeri to replace Omwenga as the Central Regional Director (RD). Muoka had been the Western RD before being moved to Central. However, because of the cancellation of her predecessor’s transfer, she had no choice but to return to her previous station, where she had been cooling her heels while awaiting her employer’s directions.
Muoka has, however, now reported to the Central Region to replace Omwenga.
Also affected was John Nzuvu, who had to be retained at the TSC headquarters after his deployment to the Western Region collapsed when Muoka’s transfer was stayed. Nzuvu has now reported to the Western Region as the new RD.
In the RD changes made in June, Dr Esther Musani, who was the West Pokot Director, was promoted and deployed to Nyanza as the new Regional Director. She replaced Japeth Kariuki, who was moved to Nyeri as the County Director.
Also moved was Hassan Abukar, who was the Makueni Director and was promoted and posted to the Eastern Region as the new RD. He replaced Wilson Koros, who was deployed to Laikipia as County Director.

Catherine Mwenda, who was the Nyeri Director, was also promoted and posted to the TSC headquarters as Senior Deputy Director in the Staffing Department. She replaced Lilian Wachira, who had earlier been deployed as Coast RD.
