A Kajiado court has jailed a man for 20 years after he was found guilty of defiling his 13-year-old step-daughter in Kiserian, Kajiado County.
The convict was charged with defilement contrary to Section 8(1) as read with Section 8(3). He faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a minor contrary to Section 11(1) of the Sexual Offences Act.
The court heard that the offence took place on the 16th of June 2024 in Kiserian town in Kajiado County.
Prosecution called five witnesses, including the minor who narrated that she had lived with the convict as her step-father for about four years.
She told the court that on the fateful day, as she was performing her chores, her step-father took her to the bedroom and defiled her. She attempted to scream, but he covered her mouth with his hands and offered her Ksh. 1000.

The minor told court that she declined the money and later informed her neighbour, who immediately took her to hospital to seek medical attention.
Court ruled that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt and dismissed the convict’s defence as a mere afterthought.
The sentence was read on 9th July 2026 after the court considered the circumstances of the case, including the pre-sentence report. The convict has 14 days to appeal.
