Tambach High School dismisses social media claims of student unrest

Tambach Senior School has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that students went on strike and walked to Iten, terming the information as false and misleading.

In a statement released to the press, the school administration clarified that there was no strike at the institution, clarifying that learning continues as Normal After what it termed as Isolated Incident.

 “We wish to clarify misleading information circulating on social media alleging that the school went on strike and that students walked to Iten. These claims are false and should be disregarded,” the statement read.

According to the school, there was only “an isolated attempt by a few individuals to disrupt the normal operations of the school.” The administration says the matter was promptly contained and normalcy was restored without delay.

“Learning and other school activities have continued as scheduled,” the statement signed by school Principal Michael Cheruiyot added.

The school further revealed that the relevant security agencies are handling the matter, and that several suspected ring leaders are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

The administration has appealed to parents, stakeholders, and members of the public not to rely on unverified information on social media.

“We also appeal to everyone to refrain from spreading false and misleading narratives that may unfairly damage the reputation of the school,” the statement said.

The School reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for all students, and thanked parents, staff, students, and the wider community for their continued cooperation and support.

The institution has had a turbulent term following two consecutive student unrests that destabilised the better part of the learning session.
