Kivaywa Boys Senior School in Kakamega County has been closed indefinitely following alleged violent clashes between Form Four and Form Three students that reportedly led to the burning of the school dormitory Sunday.

The incident, which disrupted normal learning at the institution, saw one dormitory reduced to ashes, prompting the school administration to suspend operations and send all students home until further notice.

Authorities are yet to establish the exact cause of the alleged clashes, with investigations expected to determine the circumstances that led to the unrest and the dormitory fire. The extent of the damage is also being assessed.

The indefinite closure is expected to disrupt the school’s academic calendar, particularly for candidates preparing for national examinations. Parents and guardians have been advised to await further communication from the school regarding the resumption of learning.
