Panic and anxiety gripped residents of Nyabondo in Kisumu County after a massive fire broke out at Nyabondo Boys Boarding Primary School, destroying part of the school’s boarding section.

The inferno, which raged for more than 30 minutes, sent thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky as teachers, residents, and emergency responders scrambled to contain the flames and salvage property from the affected buildings.

Witnesses described scenes of confusion and distress as the fire rapidly spread through the boarding facilities, threatening to cause extensive damage before firefighters could bring it under control.

The incident has revived painful memories of a similar tragedy that struck the school on June 18, 2017, when a dormitory was reduced to ashes.
