  • Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe  has urged youth to embrace TVET education to acquire practical skills.
  • Wangwe said the government has continued to invest heavily in vocational education to equip young people with skills that can enable them to secure employment or start their own businesses.

Navakholo Member of Parliament (MP) Emmanuel Wangwe has challenged young people who did not qualify for university admission to enroll in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, saying they offer practical skills that are increasingly in demand in the job market.

Speaking on Friday, June 26, during the Career Exploration Day at Navakholo Technical and Vocational College (TVC), Wangwe said the government has continued to invest heavily in vocational education to equip young people with skills that can enable them to secure employment or start their own businesses.

He noted that the country’s economic growth depends on a skilled workforce and urged the youth to take advantage of the opportunities available in TVET institutions instead of viewing university education as the only path to success.

“The future belongs to those with practical skills. TVET institutions are producing competent artisans, technicians and entrepreneurs who are contributing significantly to the country’s development,” Wangwe said.

The MP also called on parents to encourage their children to pursue technical courses, noting that graduates from vocational colleges are increasingly becoming self-reliant through entrepreneurship and skilled employment.

The Career Exploration Day brought together students, parents, alumni and education stakeholders to showcase the various courses offered at the institution and create awareness on the importance of technical education.

Wangwe reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes that empower young people through skills development and enhance employment opportunities in Navakholo Constituency.
