Over 2,300 Machakos teachers to undergo CEMASTEA digital skills training

A total of 2,337 teachers from Machakos County are set to participate in an upcoming training programme organized by the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) aimed at enhancing ICT integration in teaching and learning.

The training is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE) by equipping teachers with practical digital skills that can improve classroom instruction and learner outcomes.

According to education officials, the programme will focus on empowering teachers to effectively utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in their day-to-day teaching practices.

The initiative seeks to promote innovative and learner-centred approaches in schools as Kenya continues to embrace technology in education.

Focus areas of the training

During the training, participants will be taken through key areas, including the use of digital tools in lesson delivery, strategies for enhancing learner engagement through technology, ICT-supported assessment methods and ways of improving classroom interaction using modern educational resources.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, noting that digital literacy among teachers is critical in preparing learners for a rapidly evolving technological world.

The training is also expected to enhance teaching efficiency, improve content delivery and support the successful implementation of the Competency-Based Education curriculum.

The programme underscores the government’s commitment to integrating technology into education and ensuring that teachers are adequately prepared to meet the demands of modern learning environments.
