Bomet teachers to mark Father’s Day with mental wellness forum

Teachers in Bomet County have been invited to participate in a special Father’s Day Celebration and Mental Wellness Awareness Forum scheduled for today.

The event is being organized jointly by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Bomet Branch and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bomet Gender Department.

The forum aims to celebrate fathers while creating awareness on the importance of mental health and emotional well-being among teachers and their families.

According to the organizers, the event is spearheaded by KNUT Bomet Woman Representative Betty Langat together with the KUPPET Bomet Gender Department led by Gender Secretary Evalyne Chepkirui Sanguya.

The celebrations will be held at Lenana Garden in Bomet Town and are expected to bring together teachers from across the county for a day of reflection, networking, mentorship and discussions on mental wellness.

Focus on fatherhood and mental health

Speaking ahead of the event, the organizers emphasized the need to recognize the vital role played by fathers in families and society while addressing the growing need for mental health awareness among education professionals.

The forum comes at a time when conversations around mental health have gained prominence within the education sector, with stakeholders calling for stronger support systems for teachers facing work-related and personal challenges.

Father’s Day is observed annually on the third Sunday of June and falls on June 21 in 2026.

The day is dedicated to honouring fathers and father figures for their contribution to families and communities.
