The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred the head teacher of Ekerubo CCF Comprehensive School in Kenyenya Sub-county following a series of arson attacks that disrupted learning and forced the institution’s closure.

Julius Nyamboki, who had been serving as the school’s head teacher, has been moved to Emesa Comprehensive School and replaced by John Ogutu, formerly of Emesa. Education officials said the transfer was part of efforts to restore stability and confidence at the institution after repeated fire incidents.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kenyenya Sub-county Director of Education Gladys Lepsoi and TSC Sub-county Director Shem Odhiambo said the leadership changes were implemented with immediate effect to facilitate a fresh start for the school.

Lepsoi commended parents for remaining calm during the recent fire incident that destroyed a dormitory and students’ belongings, leading to the temporary closure of the school. She assured them that learners would resume studies after the short school break and find improved facilities in place.

“We appreciate the cooperation shown by parents during this difficult period. Arrangements are underway to ensure students return to a safe and conducive learning environment,” she said.

Odhiambo urged parents and the local community to support the new head teacher, describing him as a dedicated and hardworking administrator capable of steering the institution forward.

In his inaugural address, Ogutu called on all stakeholders to unite in rebuilding the school’s reputation and promoting a culture of safety and development.

“For this school to regain its footing, we need the support of everyone—from teachers and parents to boda boda operators and community members,” he said.

He further led those present in a pledge against future arson incidents, emphasizing the need to prioritize the safety and welfare of learners.

Ogutu also appealed to local leaders to actively engage with the school and work together in charting a new path for its growth and stability.
