Newly appointed Basic Education Principal Secretary, John Lekakeny Ololtuaa, has officially begun his duties at Jogoo House, signaling a new chapter for Kenya’s education sector.
On his first day in office, Ololtuaa hosted a delegation of church leaders led by Bishop David Kisotu of The House of Miracles Church, who visited the ministry of education headquarters to offer prayers and blessings as he assumes the crucial role.
During the meeting, the church leaders prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance as the new PS embarks on the task of steering Kenya’s basic education agenda.
Speaking during the prayer session, Ololtuaa expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement from religious leaders, noting that the responsibility entrusted to him requires unity, commitment and God’s guidance.
“I ask for your prayers and wisdom as we work together to serve the people of Kenya and strengthen our education sector,” he said.
The prayer gathering underscored the important partnership between government and faith-based organizations in promoting education, values and national development.

Ololtuaa was recently appointed Principal Secretary for Basic Education following a government reshuffle by President William Ruto.
He takes over the docket with more than three decades of experience in education management, having previously served as a teacher, principal, District Education Officer, County Director of Education, Regional Director of Education and most recently as Principal Secretary for Tourism.
His appointment comes at a critical time when the education sector is addressing issues such as school safety, student welfare and the continued implementation of key education reforms.
Stakeholders are optimistic that his extensive experience in education administration will help drive positive transformation across the sector.
As he settles into his new office at Jogoo House, many education stakeholders will be keenly watching the direction he takes in shaping policies and improving learning outcomes for millions of Kenyan learners.
