Schools receive KSh 4.1 billion infrastructure boost under new budget

Primary and secondary schools across the country are set to benefit from a KSh 4.1 billion infrastructure allocation under the FY 2026/27 Budget.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced the funding while presenting the Budget Statement in Parliament.

“To improve learning environments and skills training, I propose KSh 4.1 billion for primary and secondary school infrastructure,” Mbadi said.

The allocation comes as the government continues expanding education infrastructure to support growing enrolment and implementation of Competency-Based Education.

Over the past three years, the government says it has constructed more than 23,000 classrooms and commenced construction of 1,600 laboratories across the country.

The infrastructure funding is expected to improve teaching and learning conditions while supporting delivery of quality education.

The allocation forms part of wider investments aimed at strengthening education access, quality and equity across Kenya.
