Treasury releases Ksh 1.5Bn payment for 2025 KCSE examiners

The National Treasury has released Ksh 1.5 billion to facilitate the payment of contracted personnel engaged in the 2025 national examination and assessments.

In a notice released by the Ministry of Education, the fund have been disbursed to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and the payment process is currently underway.

“All eligible professionals are expected to receive their dues on or before June 11, 2026,” the statement read.

The release of the funds to clear the outstanding dues ends months of complaints from teachers and their unions over the delay.

Many education stakeholders had argued that examiners should not have to wait that long to be paid for work they did and completed during a national exercise.

Teachers threatened to down their tools, disrupting learning at their institutions across the country to demand for the payment.
