National reigning boys’ soccer champions St. Joseph’s Boys High School Kitale (JOBO) experienced a dramatic start to the Saboti sub-county Games at Kaptetwa Primary Ground after recording two goalless results, including an abandoned match.
JOBO opened their campaign with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bishop Crowley in a closely contested encounter.
Despite dominating possession for long spells, the defending champions were unable to find the breakthrough against a resilient Bishop Crowley side.
The day’s major talking point came in JOBO’s second match against St. Phillips Tuuyo Kony.
The fixture was halted after match officials awarded a penalty to JOBO, a decision that sparked protests and led to the abandonment of the game before the penalty could be taken.
Following consultations, tournament officials ordered that the match resume on today, with play set to restart from the penalty situation that caused the stoppage.
