Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service will reopen its online placement portal for a second revision window running from May 16 to May 22, 2026, providing a lifeline to thousands of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates who missed the initial application deadline.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome confirmed the schedule shortly before the first application window closed at midnight on May 6.

“No student will be left behind. Following the closure of the portal tonight, we will process applications and then reopen for the second revision from May 16 to May 22, 2026, for those who may need to adjust their choices or apply for the first time,” Wahome stated.
The upcoming window targets three groups of applicants: new applicants who missed the May 6 deadline entirely, unsuccessful applicants who applied but failed to secure placement in any of their preferred courses due to high competition, and previous years’ candidates who are yet to be placed in any tertiary institution through the KUCCPS system. Students who successfully paid the application fee during the first window but need to revise their choices will not be charged again. Only new applicants will be required to pay the standard processing fee.
KUCCPS reported that by the final day of the first window, 207,308 of the 268,714 eligible candidates with a minimum grade of C+ had submitted applications, leaving more than 61,000 eligible students out of the initial cycle.

Wahome warned that a significant number of these students made the critical error of adding courses to their course basket without clicking the final submission button.
“Adding programmes to the course basket is not an application. You must complete the process and submit your choices using your password to be considered,” she clarified.
This year’s placement cycle covers 508 institutions, including 43 public universities, 31 private universities, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, Kenya Medical Training College campuses and teacher training colleges. With more than 1.4 million slots available, the CEO encouraged students to look beyond traditional degree paths and consider technical programmes that offer direct pathways into the modern job market.
