Matungu MP launches teacher digital training ahead of computer rollout

Matungu MP Peter Nabulindo launches a four-day teacher training programme to boost digital literacy ahead of computer distribution in schools.

Matungu Member of Parliament Peter Nabulindo has launched a four-day intensive teacher training programme aimed at strengthening digital literacy in schools ahead of a planned rollout of computers across the constituency.

The programme, scheduled for April 21–24, 2026, will be held at the Matungu Community Innovation Hub and brings together educators from various schools within Matungu.

It is being implemented through a partnership between the MP’s office, the Alliance for Coding Education and the government-backed Ajira Digital Program.

According to the organisers, the training is designed to equip teachers with basic and intermediate computer skills, alongside digital teaching methods, to ensure effective integration of technology in classroom instruction.

Nabulindo said the initiative is intended to maximise the impact of the computers set to be distributed to schools, stressing that teacher preparedness is key to improving learning outcomes.

“This programme ensures that when computers reach our schools, teachers are fully equipped to use them effectively in delivering lessons and improving digital learning,” he said.

The MP noted that the intervention forms part of a broader agenda to promote digital inclusion and prepare learners for opportunities in the technology-driven economy.

The training will also focus on the practical application of digital tools in teaching, as well as an introduction to coding basics and online learning platforms.

The Alliance for Coding Education emphasised that empowering teachers remains central to sustaining digital transformation in education, noting that learners benefit most when educators are adequately trained.

The Ajira Digital Program, which promotes digital skills and online employment opportunities among young people, is also expected to provide technical support during the training.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the MP to enhance education infrastructure and bridge the digital divide in rural schools within Matungu Constituency.
