The University of Kabianga has taken a tough administrative stance on absenteeism, issuing strict instructions to third-year education students ahead of the upcoming Teaching Practice (TP) briefing scheduled for April 14, 2026.
In a directive from the Office of the Dean, School of Education, Arts and Social Sciences, the university stated that attendance at the briefing is compulsory and warned that failure to participate will automatically disqualify students from proceeding to the April–August 2026 teaching practice programme.
The briefing will be held at LT B4/BSM within the university and will be conducted in two sessions to manage the large number of students.
The morning session, running from 8:55 a.m. to 12:55 p.m., will include learners from the EDS, AED and EGC programmes, while the afternoon session from 1:55 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. will cater for ED and ECD cohorts.
According to the university, attendance will be strictly enforced through signed registers during the briefing, followed by verification by zone coordinators during placement.

The officials noted that the move is aimed at ensuring discipline, preparedness and smooth coordination of field training activities.
Teaching Practice is a core academic requirement for Bachelor of Education students, offering them a critical opportunity to gain real classroom experience.
During this period, students are assessed on lesson planning, delivery, classroom management and professional conduct, all of which contribute significantly to their final grading.
The latest directive reflects a growing trend among universities in Kenya to enforce stricter compliance in field-based training programmes, as institutions seek to strengthen the quality of teacher preparation and uphold academic standards.
