Mitua Girls Senior School in Bungoma County has secured multiple slots at this year’s national games competitions following an impressive performance in regional contests across athletics, science and engineering, and drama.
The school emerged among top performers in the Term One games, with four students qualifying for the national athletics championships set to be held in Kisumu. The qualification highlights the institution’s growing strength in sports and competitive track events.
In the Science and Engineering Fair, Mitua Girls posted equally strong results after five student projects advanced to the national stage. The projects clinched top positions—ranking first and second in their respective categories—at the regional level. The national exhibition will take place at Garissa University.
The school also excelled in the performing arts, with three film entries qualifying for the national drama festivals. The productions will be showcased at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, placing the institution among leading schools in creative arts.
School principal Angelina Kosgei attributed the success to teamwork, discipline, and the commitment of both teachers and students.

“We are proud of this achievement. It reflects the hard work our students have put in and the dedication of our teachers in guiding them,” she said.
Kosgei noted that the school continues to prioritize holistic education by balancing academics with co-curricular activities; a strategy she said has contributed to consistent success in competitions.
The qualifiers are now expected to intensify preparations ahead of the national contests, where they will compete with top students from across the country.
The latest achievement cements Mitua Girls Senior School’s rising profile as a center of excellence in both academics and co-curricular activities.
