Shidodo Primary School in Shinyalu Constituency, Kakamega County has constructed some makeshift structures for lower primary and Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) learners following a stalled National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) storey building project hosting 8 classrooms.
Speaking at the school the deputy head teacher Bonventure Ingosi disclosed that area MP Fred Ikana commissioned the building last year in January, it kicked off well upto a certain level, but due to insufficient funds the project delayed, forcing the contractor to stop.

Ingosi said the stalled building has actually impacted negatively to the school reiterating that when they demolished the condemned classes, majority of parents starting this year decided to take their children to other schools where classrooms are permanently built, in fear that their children will be affected by jiggers.
The deputy head alluded that at the beginning of the year, he received information that CDF is now resuming the contraction and by June it will be done, however upto now no progress has been made.

He is now appealing to the CDF office under the patronage of MP Ikana to facilitate and fast track the building so that the school can get back the learners who went to other schools
He urged parents to be patient and bring back learners who were transferred in other schools, saying that based on the school population, it risks losing capitation that could be used to complete the stalled structure.

“The stalled building will also impact negatively to school following disbursement of capitation funds which is based on population. When you take children away it means the school will not receive capitation and it becomes very difficult to run the school.” He decried and encouraged parents to own the school in the entire community
“If they don’t bring learners it will be shut down and the community will suffer, parents kindly bring your children.” He begged.
