The Western Kenya champion schools have dominated the Sub-County Rugby 15 games with now focus turned to the County where the titans are set for a tough clash.
Chavakali Boys was crowned Sabatia Sub-County Rugby Fifteens champions after a dominant performance that saw them go unbeaten in the tournament. Their victories, including a 36-0 win over Bugina, a 36-3 triumph against Mbale Boys, and a 45-0 rout of Busali, secured them a place alongside Mbale Boys to represent the sub-county at the Vihiga County Games. The final standings saw Chavakali Boys first, Mbale Boys second, Bugina third, and Busali fourth.
In Kimilili Sub-County, Friends School Kamusinga edged Kamusinde Boys 6-0 to claim the title, while Saint Luke’s Kimilili had earlier defeated Chesamisi Boys 21-7 in the playoffs. Friends School Kamusinga and Kamusinde Boys will advance to the Bungoma County Games, which are set to be hosted at Friends School Kamusinga. The final rankings placed Friends School Kamusinga first, Kamusinde Boys second, Saint Luke’s Kimilili third, Chesamisi Boys fourth, and Matili Friends Secondary School fifth.
Lugari Sub-County saw Mautuma Boys lift the trophy after a 7-0 win over Saint Augustine in the final. Mautuma Boys had earlier beaten Handow 24-0 and Saint Augustine 19-0 in the group stages before a 10-0 semifinal win over Saint Luke’s Lumakanda. Saint Augustine reached the final after a thrilling 12-10 semifinal victory over Lugari Boys. Both Mautuma Boys and Saint Augustine advance to the Kakamega County Games.

In Hamisi Sub-County, Senende Boys were crowned champions following a 10-6 victory over Nyangori in the final. Senende dominated the tournament with notable wins over Kaimosi (36-0), Imusutzu (65-0), and Nyangori (17-5) in the group stages, before a 50-0 semifinal rout of Kaptik. Nyangori finished second after a 19-0 semifinal win over Gamalenga. The full rankings saw Senende first, Nyangori second, Gamalenga third, Kaptik fourth, Kaimosi fifth, Imusutzu sixth, and GK Kaptisi seventh. Senende Boys will now represent Hamisi Sub-County at the Vihiga County Games.
In Busia Sub-County, Mundika Boys secured the title in emphatic fashion, crushing Saint Mathias 83-0 in the only game played. The win guarantees them a place at the Busia County Games.
Bungoma South Sub-County saw Bungoma High emerge champions after a 34-3 victory over Kibabii High in the final. Earlier matches had seen Bungoma High defeat Kimugui 70-6, while Kibabii High overcame Kimugui 11-6. The final rankings placed Bungoma High first, Kibabii High second, and Kimugui third, with both Bungoma High and Kibabii High qualifying for the County Games.
In Tongaren Sub-County, Saint Peter’s Highschool successfully defended their title with a 12-3 win over Tongaren Secondary in the final. Saint Peter’s had earlier beaten Juliana Narati 14-0 in the semifinals, while Tongaren Secondary overcame Bishop Anyolo Kakamwe 7-3. The defending champions will now represent Tongaren Sub-County at the Bungoma County Rugby Fifteens Games.
Finally, in Likuyani Sub-County, Kilimani Secondary School was crowned champions after a dominant display, including a 93-0 win over St. John’s Likuyani and a 19-0 victory against Soysambu. Soysambu beat St. John’s Likuyani 60-0 to secure second place. Kilimani Secondary School will now advance to represent Likuyani Sub-County at the Kakamega County Games.
The conclusion of these sub-county tournaments marks a major step in the build-up to the county-level competitions, with top-performing schools from Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and Kakamega now preparing to battle for regional supremacy.
