Thirty schools in Nandi County have a reason to smile after benefiting from reliable water projects spearheaded by Kenyan politician and party leader Damaris Too.
The projects, which began in late 2025 and span several constituencies, aim to address long-standing water challenges affecting schools and surrounding communities.
Speaking during the commissioning of the projects, Damaris Too revealed that her motivation was deeply personal. She said she is a giver who never forgets home, recalling how water scarcity made her own school life stressful and traumatic while growing up in Nandi County.
“I understand how stressful it is to lack water, especially for the girl child. I grew up in Nandi, and water was a rare resource. It is a shame that some leaders do not consider water projects important and instead politicize them. I want to encourage every student here to make good use of this water and excel academically now that a heavy burden has been lifted off your shoulders,” she said.
The water projects will not only benefit the schools but also serve nearby communities.

Too went on to thank her donors for supporting the initiative, giving special credit to Omeriye Foundation, a Kenya-based organization that funded the projects.
The foundation’s CEO noted that supporting the initiative aligned with their mission, which includes education support, water projects, and hunger relief.
Schools already enjoying flowing taps include Ndalat Gaa Girls Senior School, Laboret Girls and Boys Senior School, Tuktuk Primary School, Kaptebe Junior School, and Sirsiron Comprehensive School, among others.
School administrators and students expressed their gratitude, praising Damaris for her selfless gesture.
“It is not every day that you find someone who is not pursuing any political seat returning home with such life-changing projects. She is one in a million. Thank you so much, Damaris,” one school representative said.
