A cloud of grief hangs over Emurua Dikirr Technical Training Institute (TTI) today as students, staff, and community members gather to honour the life of Brenda Chebet, a beloved student whose sudden passing has left many devastated.
Brenda’s body is currently lying at the Emurua Dikirr TTI school grounds, where emotional scenes have unfolded since morning.
Comrades, lecturers, and friends have been streaming in to pay their respects, remembering her as a determined young woman with an admirable future ahead.
Brenda was pursuing a Certificate in Social Work, a course she embraced with passion and commitment.
Lecturers who interacted with her described her as hardworking, compassionate, and focused — qualities that made her stand out both academically and socially.
“She had a warm personality and a heart inclined to helping others. Her future was bright,” one of her instructors shared.
Later today, Brenda will be laid to rest at her family home in Kimugul, Ilkerin Ward, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, where preparations for her burial have drawn relatives, neighbours, and leaders from across the region.
The final send-off is expected to attract a large crowd as the community joins the institution in mourning a life cut short far too soon.

Her family expressed deep sorrow, describing her passing as an unimaginable loss to a household that had placed great hope in her.
Fellow students, many unable to hold back tears, shared memories of her kindness, laughter, and the friendships she built at the institution.
Messages of solidarity have poured in from leaders and community members, offering comfort to the grieving family and encouraging the youth to stand together during this difficult moment.
“We mourn with the family and the entire Emurua Dikirr TTI fraternity. Brenda was a promising young woman whose dreams were just beginning to take shape,” one mourner said.
As Brenda Chebet begins her final journey home today, the Emurua Dikirr TTI community holds onto the memories she leaves behind — memories of a bright, gentle soul who touched many.
