The Eldoret National Polytechnic student was yesterday morning found dead at her residence in Teleview Estate after an alleged self-induced abortion went unsuccessful.
According to the reports, a 21-year-old, Winnie Jelagat, suffered severe hemorrhage, losing a significant amount of blood leading to her death.
According to locals, her lifeless body was discovered by friends who went to check on her after her phone went unanswered after several calls.
Neighbors and friends recounted finding her clutching her phone, apparently trying to make a call, with her other hand resting on the bed.
They believe she was attempting to seek help but was overwhelmed by pain and blood loss before she could get assistance.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the incident, urging students in all institutions to avoid self-harm and seek professional medical care when in distress.
