Capitation funds will reach schools before reopening, says CS Ogamba

Education CS Julius Ogamba in Kisii assures parents of timely third-term school funding.

Cabinet Secretary (CS)  for Education Julius Ogamba has assured parents that government funds for their children’s third term will reach schools before the reopening day.

Speaking at Kisii town on Friday, he asked parents not to panic or doubt the government’s funding, as it has already been budgeted for.

“The money is available and will be sent to schools as usual, so let not a few technical delays derail you,” he said.

The CS, who was accompanied by most of the elected leaders and highly placed government officers from the region, hosted by Kisii County Governor Simba Arati, was on an inspection mission of government development projects.

The CS and his entourage visited the Kisii Prisons centre to confirm its relocation from the Kisii CBD centre to Nyanturago in Ibeno ward, paving the way for the ongoing nationwide construction of affordable houses by the government.

Other places he visited and commended Kisii County Governor Sumba Arati for the visionary planning included the Agricultural Society of Keya (and ASK) Stadium, which will be relocated to a new location to create room for further expansion and the addition of more social amenities, such as a swimming pool.

Governor Arati welcomed the initiative, saying that it aimed to transform Kisii town into a modern urban centre with reduced congestion.

Elected leaders, including Japhet Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North), Zaheer Jhanda (Nyaribari Masaba), and Steve Mogaka from West Mugirango, thanked the government for the good work of opening up Kisii town into a modern city with good roads, a hospital, and the revival of the renovation and expansion of Suneka airstrip.

Ogamba asked the community to support President Ruto’s government by voting for him in 2027 for development projects.

“You refused to vote for me to go to parliament three times, but Ruto saw mercy and appointed me CS for education. Why don’t you support him for a second term to enable me to complete these good projects for our people?” he asked.
