The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), through its KPC Foundation, has commenced the construction of a Ksh3 million administration block at Kowuor Primary School in Homa Bay County, aiming to improve education access and administrative efficiency for the school’s 361 learners and 18 staff.

The modern facility will replace a decades-old structure that no longer met the school’s growing needs. With the new block, the school now benefits from improved working space, better coordination among staff and a designated area for digital learning.

The project is one of several infrastructure developments being undertaken by the KPC Foundation across the country, under its six-pillar Corporate Social Investment strategy. These pillars include Education, Health, Environment, Youth Empowerment, Water and Sanitation.

KPC Managing Director and KPC Foundation Chair Joe Sang said the investment demonstrates the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development through education. He noted that quality education requires supportive infrastructure, and the new building would improve operations and learning outcomes.

The Foundation selected Kowour Primary School following an evaluation of local infrastructure gaps and the school’s potential to deliver strong academic results with additional support.

According to the school’s head teacher Harrison Okech, the new block will include a staff room, offices for senior teachers and a shared computer lab for both students and staff. He said the old facility, built in 1954, had become too small and inadequate for the school’s expanding operations.

Community leaders and education stakeholders welcomed the intervention, describing it as a step forward for the region’s education standards. The Foundation said it would continue monitoring progress and collecting feedback to maintain the project’s long-term impact.

The initiative comes weeks after the KPC Foundation invested Ksh20.7 million in education programmes in Siaya and Kisumu counties, reinforcing its focus on expanding quality learning environments in underserved communities.

The Homa Bay project adds to KPC’s growing portfolio of education-focused interventions, especially in rural and underserved areas. Similar projects have supported learning institutions through classroom construction, provision of learning materials and school water access improvements.

By targeting education as a core investment area, KPC Foundation aims to support Kenya’s Vision 2030 goals, unlock young talent and empower communities with the tools for long-term development.
