All roads lead to Kakamega as top schools battle for sports glory

Last year’s football showdown between Musingu Boys and Highway Secondary in Kisii was a thrilling contest.

Kakamega County is poised to host the highly anticipated Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two Games from July 29 to August 2, 2025.

The event will gather the nation’s top young players to compete across a wide range of sports disciplines, showcasing Kenya’s rich pool of secondary school talent.

The multi-sport format promises a dynamic and exciting festival of youth sports, with schools from all over the country eager to showcase their talent and assert their dominance.

The boys’ soccer competition at the KSSSA term two games promises intense and thrilling encounters as eight top teams are divided into two highly competitive pools.

Moi High Mbiruri from Eastern Kenya brings a blend of tactical discipline and skilled midfield play, carrying a strong reputation built from consistent regional successes.

Again, Mixed, representing the Nyanza region, famed for its football passion, boasts a physically robust squad that thrives on aggressive attacking and relentless pressure to dominate possession.

Completing the pool is last year’s runners-up, Musingu from Western Kenya, a team celebrated for its technical flair and swift counterattacks, with players known for creativity and quick adaptability during matches.

Pool B features Kirangari from Central Kenya, a side recognised for its solid defensive organisation and cohesive teamwork, making them challenging to break down and deadly on counterattacks.

From the Rift Valley, St. Joseph Boys combines the region’s renowned athleticism with tactical flexibility, fielding a balanced squad that can shift seamlessly between offensive surges and sturdy defence.

Serani from the Coast region brings the flair and creativity typical of coastal football, with quick wingers and sharp passing that entertain fans and challenge their rivals.

Representing the bustling capital, defending champions Highway from Nairobi rounds out the pool with a team built on technical skill and speed, accustomed to high-pressure matches and equipped with agility and precision crucial for success on the national stage.
