Nyamira teachers mourn a colleague who died after short illness

Teachers and Parents of St Paul’s Gekano Boys’ School, in Nyamira County are engulfed in sorrow after learning about the demise of one of their teacher.

According to internal sources, teacher Samson Nyagwencha died in hospital after a short illness.

“He transferred from here a few months ago to another school in Nyamira North but still he was of us and we feel devasted,” said one of the teachers from of Gekano Boys’ school.

Until his death, he was teaching at Maagonga Secondary School in Nyamira County.

Maagonga area Chief Daniel Ndubi confirmed the teacher’s death saying he had known him for a short time.

“He was a good man who blended well with students and the community but death snatched him at the time we needed him most.” He said.

The Principal of his former school (St. Paul Gekano), Henry Manoti termed the deceased as a team player in academics  and his demise will leave a huge gap behind will take long to fill.

He assured the family that his staff will stand with them as they plan the day of his send-off.

A parent who identified herself as Alice Moyesu described Nyagwencha as a passionate Kiswahili teacher who was loved by his students.

“He encouraged students not to despise Kiswahili but place it behind English as a other national language,” she said.

Among the first people to condole with the family of the deceased were Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo, Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Thadius Nyabaro and Rigoma Ward MCA, Nyambega Gisesa.

Nyabaro said the late Nyagwencha was a dedicate teacher who impacted many people during his life and left a legacy among the teaching fraternity and wished his family God’s comfort during this mourning period.
